What the Reviewers Said…

Battery Powered=Quiet and Convenient

The GreenWorks G-Max was praised for its lightweight and ergonomic design. The variable speed control is a nice feature that is not included on many cheaper electric and battery powered blowers. Reviewers also liked the convenience of the battery as opposed to the extension cord required on electric blowers. The G-Max 40V battery system can be used on over 25 other tools, everything from string trimmers to chainsaws. It’s nice to have one battery that can be shared among all the lawn and garden tools. Quieter operation was also a big plus, your neighbors will thank you.

Not for all Job Types

Although the Greenworks G-Max is suitable for many light jobs, some reviewers were unhappy with its performance on heavy-duty jobs such as wet leaves/grass when compared to more powerful gas or electric models. The battery lasts between 20 and 35 minutes of run time, and may not be long enough for bigger jobs, but the included charger re-charges the battery quickly, in about 60 minutes.

The Good

  • Lightweight (7 pounds total with battery)
  • Variable Speed Control Dial
  • Convenient & portable
  • Quiet operation
  • Wind speed is enough for light weight jobs (blowing grass clippings)
  • G-Max 40V battery can also be used with 25 other tools

The Bad

  • Not as powerful as some gas/electric blowers
  • 20 to 30 minute battery life may not be enough for bigger jobs

Bottom Line

The GreenWorks G-Max has plenty of power and is a great choice if you need a lightweight blower to do light-duty jobs such as blowing grass clippings off driveways and sidewalks, and blowing out leaves from bushes. The variable speed dial control as well as the speed control on the blower tip are great additions that add to the functionality. However, if you have a lot of big, heavy-duty jobs such as blowing larger amounts of wet leaves/grass or cleaning gutters, a gas model might be the better option, as they offer the most power, at the expense of weight, and convenience.
