Assembly
The best feature of this Greenes raised garden bed is the ease of the assembly. It can be put together in about 10-15 minutes, and the only tool required is a phillips head screwdriver that is used to attach the decorative caps. All of the side and end boards simply slide into slits in the posts. The ability to stack two beds is a nice feature, as it allows for growing certain root vegetables that benefit from deeper soil such as potatoes, carrots, and onions.
Build Quality
The boards that come in the kit are thin (about 1/2 inch) and because of this, they do have the tendency to bow. Some may be bowed before assembly, while others will bow after filling with dirt and being exposed to weather. The boards also have a very rough finish, and may contain splinters. Despite the lower grade of wood, functionality is still good, but it’s something to think about depending on your desired visual preference where the garden bed will be located.
Some reviewers have noted that the cedar fades to a light gray color over time, but this is normal for natural cedar, and an oil or stain can be used to prolong or change the color of the wood.
