Assembly and Functionality
The Gronomics REGB 2448 assembles easily without the needs for any tools. The garden bed can be put together by a single person in about 10-20 minutes. The overall size is nice, and it can accommodate a wide array of plants/vegetables. With a 10 inch depth it is even possible to plant root vegetables such a carrots or radishes. The elevated height of 30 inches is great for people with back problems or those who require a wheelchair still want to enjoy gardening. Cedar is a great choice for a garden bed building material due to its natural resistance to rot and insects.
Check All The Boards Before Assembly
The cedar wood used, is for the most part of good quality, but there were a few occasions when some cracked or damaged boards were found in the box. Gronomics customer support handled this issue promptly, and quickly sent out replacement boards.
The REGB 24-48 is made with a rough sawed style that is appealing for both its rustic appearance and cost savings (the finished model is almost $100 more). These rough sawed boards can be just that, rough. Some will contain splinters and be more likely to snag on clothing, which is something to watch out for especially if it will be used by children. A quick sanding is an easy fix for this, if it does become a problem.
It also should be noted that once the elevated bed is assembled it does become hard to move. Make sure to build it close to your final location or you can also make it portable by adding wheels/casters to the legs.
